Historical Context:
he fortified village of Saint Paul de Vence, located on the hills of the French Riviera, is one of the most picturesque medieval towns in France. Its ramparts, built in the 16th century under the reign of François I, are a rare example of Renaissance fortifications that have been perfectly preserved.
In order to enhance this unique heritage, the Municipality launched a lighting renovation project aimed at highlighting the stone texture and offering visitors an evocative and respectful nighttime experience.
Project Objectives:
Provide uniform lighting of the ramparts up to 12 meters high.
Integrate fixtures into the existing pits without invasive construction work. Create new integration spaces along the inner ramparts.
Use warm white light, respectful of the natural tones of the stone. Ensure energy efficiency and long-term reliability.

Implemented Solution:
Thanks to the cooperation between Studio Due and Sono-Éclair, a tailor-made solution was designed and implemented.
1. Main Projectors – MEGAWHITE 33
Installed in the existing pits.
Medium-beam optics to reach up to 12 m in height.
Color temperature: 2200K, providing a warm and enveloping effect, ideal for enhancing the ancient stone.
Compact body, IP67-rated, designed for permanent outdoor use.
2. In-ground Recessed Fixtures – TERRA PLUS TL/316SS Plug-in
Installed at ground level in the angular sections of the ramparts.
Color temperature: 3000K, chosen to create a slightly brighter base, in harmony with the main projectors.
Narrow optics to highlight only the corner stones, flush-mounted installation for perfect architectural integration.
3. In-ground Fixtures – ARCHIBAR-i SL160 M Plug-in
Installed along the inner ramparts, 8–9 meters high, positioned closely together so as not to interfere with load and traffic constraints.
Color temperature: 2200K, offering the same warm and enveloping effect as the MEGAWHITE 33, ideal for enhancing the ancient stone.
Narrow optics, flush-mounted installation for seamless architectural integration.
